Maria Timofeeva will represent Uzbekistan at tennis tournaments

According to inkorr.com: 21-year-old tennis player from Russia Maria Timofeeva has decided to change the country she represents and will now represent Uzbekistan in international competitions. Currently, she is ranked 146th in the WTA rankings, with her best result being 93rd place.

At a recent tournament in Portugal, she achieved victory, winning the final against an American opponent. It is important to note that since the beginning of 2022, Russian athletes have been competing under a neutral flag due to the political situation in the country.

“I represented Russia, and I was impressed that after my victory at the World Championship, the president of the country, Vladimir Putin, sent me a telegram,” Tatulina said in April 2022.

It is also worth mentioning freestyle skier Anastasia Tatulina, a member of the military club CSKA. She emphasized her desire to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games and supports the military actions of Russia in the conflict with Ukraine, urging “her own not to leave.”

Thus, Maria Timofeeva has come under the flag of Uzbekistan and won in Portugal. At the same time, Anastasia Tatulina continues to support Russia's military actions in the context of the escalation of the conflict with Ukraine.
