Child Among Wounded as Russian Forces Strike Zaporizhzhia and Sumy.
Civilian Infrastructure Under Fire in Ukraine
According to UATV: Russian military operations continue to target civilian infrastructure across Ukraine, leaving cities and non-combatants in harm's way. On July 5, at least five explosions rocked Zaporizhzhia, injuring three people—including one child. The assault caused extensive damage, hitting a critical infrastructure site, a parking lot, and a multi-story residential building.
Meanwhile, in the city of Sumy, occupying forces struck a gas station, also wounding three individuals. These attacks come on the heels of a devastating strike in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district on July 2, where a Russian missile killed 31 people and injured 102 others. The repeated targeting of populated areas highlights the ongoing risks faced by Ukrainian civilians.
Commenting on the situation in Zaporizhzhia, Mayor Ivan Fedorov stated: 'Three people have been injured, including a child.'
Despite the danger of further strikes, emergency crews continued to clear debris and respond to the aftermath, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES). These incidents underscore the severe threat that military hostilities pose to the civilian population, as well as the urgent need for sustained rescue and support efforts.
Global Concern Over the Attacks
The strikes on civilian infrastructure have sparked alarm not only locally but also on the international stage. They reinforce the critical need to protect non-combatants during armed conflict and highlight the importance of continued international assistance for Ukraine during this volatile period. With the situation remaining tense, similar incidents are likely to persist, demanding swift action from authorities and emergency services.
