Assault on the Lyman-Borova Axis Repelled

According to Novyny.live: On March 19, 2023, Russian forces launched a major offensive on the Lyman-Borova front, deploying substantial military assets. The invaders committed the 1st Tank Army and the 20th Combined Arms Army in an effort to reach the line of contact. Despite their numerical advantage, the Russian troops suffered severe casualties and failed to achieve their objectives.

Equipment and Personnel Losses

To carry out the attack, the enemy used over 500 infantry soldiers, 28 armored vehicles, and more than 100 motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles. According to military sources, Russian forces lost:

  • 84 motorcycles and ATVs
  • 11 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers
  • three tanks
  • over 160 unmanned aerial vehicles
  • one TOS-1A 'Solntsepyok' thermobaric system and five artillery pieces

During the fighting, Ukrainian brigades and regiments from the corps eliminated 405 enemy personnel, with 288 classified as irreversible losses and the remainder as medical casualties.

“For a month and a half, we observed signs of an impending offensive”

Andriy Biletsky

Thus, the attempted breakthrough on the Lyman-Borova direction not only highlights the intensity of Russian operations but also underscores the significant losses they continue to sustain.

This event marks another chapter in the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, where both sides are vying for strategic advantage. The heavy toll on Russian forces may indicate challenges in executing their plans, as well as potential shifts in Ukrainian defensive tactics that are proving effective. Monitoring developments in this region remains critical, as the outcome could influence the broader trajectory of the war.
