Finland banned Russians from entering the World Cup: association's decision.
Ban on Russian entry to the World Cup in Finland
According to inkorr.com: Athletes from Russia will not be able to participate in the World Cup in skiing, which will take place in Finland. This decision was made by the Finnish Ski Association, as reported by the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.
The president of the Finnish Ski Association, Sirpa Korkatti, noted that even if the International Ski Federation (FIS) allows Russian athletes to participate, they will still not be able to compete in Ruka.
On October 21, a decision is expected regarding the possibility of Russian participation in international competitions involving FIS, however, Korkatti emphasized that the ban on their entry will remain in effect.
“Russians have no business in Ruka, as there is a ban on their entry into the country,” Korkatti stressed.
Request from a Russian athlete to participate in the Olympics
Anastasia Tatalina, a Russian freestyle skier, has appealed to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation requesting to allow her to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games, despite her membership in the CSKA military club, which is linked to Russia's military activities in Ukraine.
“I represent Russia, and I was proud when the president of Russia, Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin), sent me a telegram after winning the World Championship,” Tatalina stated.
On her social media page, she expressed support for the Russian aggression, using the slogan “we do not abandon our own,” which caused outrage in the Ukrainian community.
Thus, following the ban from the Finnish Ski Association on Russians entering the World Cup in Ruka, additional difficulties for Russian athletes in international competitions become apparent. Meanwhile, Anastasia Tatalina strives to participate in the 2026 Olympics, although her support for Russia's aggressive policy raises many questions in the sports community.
