Russian European Champion Disqualified for Doping: Stripped of Medals.
Disqualification of the European Wrestling Champion Due to Doping
According to inkorr.com: The European Wrestling Champion, Russian Irina Ologonova, has been disqualified for 18 months for violating anti-doping rules. According to the International Testing Agency (ITA), the reason was the detection of the banned substance tuaminoheptane in a doping sample taken on November 8, 2014, during the European Nations Cup in Moscow.
The anti-doping panel of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS ADD) imposed a ban on 35-year-old Ologonova from participating in competitions from April 24, 2024, to October 23, 2025. Her results in competitions from November 8, 2014, to July 8, 2015, were annulled, and the athlete was stripped of her medals and prizes.
As a result, Ologonova lost the gold medal of the Russian Championship in 2015. She has the opportunity to appeal this decision in CAS.
Ologonova is a three-time silver medalist at the World Championships and has medals from the European Championships.
Freestyle Skier's Statement to the International Federation
Russian freestyle skier Anastasia Tatalina has appealed to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to allow her to compete in the 2026 Olympic Games. She is a member of the Russian military club CSKA, linked to Russia's military actions in Ukraine.
“I represent Russia, and I was proud when the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) sent me a telegram after my victory at the World Championship,” Tatalina stated in April 2022.
Tatalina also supported a post with the military slogan “we do not leave our own behind.”
The fate of these athletes raises important questions about compliance with anti-doping regulations and their impact on the sports community. The situations surrounding disqualifications and appeals to international federations reflect the growing complexities in the world of sports, especially in the context of political events.
