NATO forces conduct large-scale exercises in response to Russian aggression: details of the operation.
The Royal Navy Demonstrates Power
According to The Sun: The Royal Navy of the United Kingdom, together with allies, conducted an impressive 'elephant walk', showcasing strength against Vladimir Putin. This event took place just a few days after Russian drones attacked Poland.
Warships from more than ten countries maneuvered in formation through the Mediterranean Sea, while the Kremlin conducts military exercises in Belarus.
SWNSThe convoy named Operation Highmast consists of vessels from South Korea, Japan, Canada, Norway, the USA, and Australia.
This flotilla is embarking on an eight-month mission to the Indo-Pacific region in a show of solidarity against Russian aggression. The group includes about 4,500 personnel, including 2,500 sailors and Royal Marines from the UK.
Russia and Belarus Military Exercises
These events occur against the backdrop of Russian-Belarusian military exercises, which, according to experts, could indicate Putin's plans. The 'Zapad' drills are conducted every four years and include fictional scenarios. In 2017, the exercises covered the capture of the Baltic states, bombing Germany, and invading neutral countries.
“What we see altogether is serious preparation for a big war,” said General Petr Pavel, head of NATO's military committee.
NATO has committed to spending at least 2% of its GDP on defense as the Russian leader shows no signs of slowing down.
Poland's Military Modernization Plan
Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced plans to modernize the country's military for $35 billion following the 'intentional' invasion of Russian drones this week.
Warsaw activated NATO's Article 4, deciding to shoot down these drones. This means that all allies must unite for defense when the security or territory of one of them is threatened.
Tusk reported that Poland will receive its first F-35 fighter jets from the USA next year, marking the initial phase of supplying 32 aircraft by 2030.

Since 2022, Poland has acquired 'hundreds' of tanks, howitzers, and missile systems, becoming one of the largest military forces in NATO. The country spent about $60 billion on military equipment procured from the USA, including 96 helicopters.
Poland's Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak emphasized that this buildup serves as a warning to the Kremlin. In 2022, Poland spent over 4% of its GDP on NATO, more than double the UK's 2% expenditure.
Prime Minister Tusk also announced plans to strengthen the eastern border as part of a program that has become one of the largest investments in national security since World War II.
The UK has confirmed intentions to strengthen its measures in response to challenges from Putin, and NATO pledged to defend 'every inch' of allied territory.

Defense Secretary John Healy condemned 'reckless, dangerous, and unprecedented' escalation by Russia after meetings with defense officials from Germany, France, and Italy, as Poland's Defense Minister had to be diverted due to the crisis.
