Ruben Amorim has found a new Courtois: Lammens' debut changes Manchester United

Senne Lammens will be the new face of 'Manchester United'

According to The Sun: Head coach 'Manchester United' Ruben Amorim hopes that Senne Lammens can be the answer to the question of who will replace goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

This hope has been made more realistic by Lammens' regular communication with the veteran of 'Real'.

Since Lammens joined for £18.2 million on the last day of the transfer window, Amorim has cared for him like a son.

The coach sees the 23-year-old Belgian as a future pillar of the 'United' defense.

Internal club sources report that the Portuguese coach compares Lammens to 'Courtois 2.0' due to his aerodynamic abilities, strength, and ball handling.

Lammens made his debut in a match against 'Sunderland', where the team won 2-0. Amorim's decision to replace starting goalkeeper Altay Bayındır with Lammens was smart, as the young player exuded confidence by catching two high crosses and making three successful saves.

After the match, Lammens received applause from the fans and hugs from his teammates. 'Stand Stratford' even sang for him:

“Are you Peter Schmeichel in disguise?”

The team needs a reliable goalkeeper after the performances of Andre Onana. Bayındır conceded 11 goals and had one of the lowest save percentages among Premier League goalkeepers this season, so Lammens' appearance was expected.

Collaboration with Courtois

Amorim noticed how active Lammens was during the game and pointed out that there is a real connection between him and Courtois. The latter gave the young goalkeeper advice on how to adapt to the challenges of the Premier League.

After the match against 'Sunderland', Courtois commented on 'United's' official social media, showing support in the form of emojis.

Lammens, who missed international matches in September due to his move to Manchester, has been called up again to the Belgian national team.

Although new signings for the goalkeeper position are planned for the summer, Amorim has set his sights on Lammens after Onana's departure to 'Trabzonspor'.

The club's management at 'United' is excited about Lammens and believes they made the right decision as this young talent surpasses more experienced options like Emiliano Martinez.

Lammens has received positive feedback from people at the club. He has quickly integrated into the team, stood out in training, and was the first to arrive and the last to leave the field.

After his successful debut, Amorim remarked:

“Senne did an excellent job, gave us confidence. It was a good day, not a perfect day. But winning like this – with a clean sheet – is important for our team.”

The situation with the goalkeepers may finally start to clarify now that Lammens has integrated into the team.

The issues with Onana and later with Bayındır were not easy, but now Amorim is confident that this step is behind us. Sources indicate that the coach believes he has found a real diamond and expects Lammens to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world within the next three years.
