The Romanian government has decided to introduce licenses for the import of eggs and poultry meat from Ukraine. This decision was made after consultations with representatives of the country's poultry industry.

Agriculture Minister Florin Barbu noted that Romanian producers have problems due to the import of Ukrainian eggs and poultry meat, which are sold at low prices. The costs of Romanian producers are 30% higher than in Ukraine due to EU requirements.

This decision adds to the list of goods subject to licensing when imported into Romania. Previously, licenses were introduced for the import of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine and Moldova.

Exports from Ukraine to Romania increased in 2023 to $3.8 billion, and imports from Romania to Ukraine - to $1.6 billion.

Previously, Bulgaria also planned to appeal to the EU Council with a request to stop the import of eggs from Ukraine.
