American golfers will receive $500,000 for the Ryder Cup: why this caused a scandal.
According to The Sun: The US team and the European team will meet again at the traditional Ryder Cup tournament.
This year's event will take place from September 26 to 28 at the Bethpage Black golf course in New York.
The TimesThe Europeans won the last Ryder Cup two years ago.
In the 21st century, only two away victories have been achieved by the Europeans — in 2004 and 2012.
The players led by Luke Donald raised the trophy in Italy, but the US team, led by new captain Keegan Bradley, is ready to fight for victory.
What are the prize funds for the Ryder Cup 2025?
This year there are no prize funds for winning the Ryder Cup.
Players usually do not receive rewards for participating in this duel.
Europeans will still go home empty-handed, while US stars will receive compensation due to new rules.
PGA of America announced that it will pay its 12 players $500,000 (£395,000), of which $300,000 (£237,000) will go to charity of the player's choice.
The other $200,000 (£158,000) will be considered a 'stipend' — basically a salary.
In a statement, PGA of America indicated that no player asked for payment.
Northern Irish Rory McIlroy previously expressed dissatisfaction with this decision, saying: “I would personally pay to have the honor of playing in the Ryder Cup.”
“I have come a long way with this, especially with the Olympics, but the two purest forms of competition in our game right now are the Ryder Cup and the Olympics, partly because of the purity associated with no money.”

The “Hatgate” scandal at Ryder Cup 2023
When Europe lifted the trophy two years ago in Italy, US player Patrick Cantlay's protest sparked much speculation.
He was reportedly unhappy about the lack of payment and refused to wear the team's cap to express his protest.
Cantlay denied the rumors, stating that the hats were too small for his head.
However, this did not stop the Europeans from teasing him, constantly waving hats.
These events led to a fierce dispute between McIlroy and Cantlay's caddy Joe LaCava in the parking lot.
