Sandu spoke harshly about Moldovan communities led by pro-Russian forces.
Moldova's President Maia Sandu stated that regions of the country where the pro-Russian opposition won the elections would not receive funds from the European Union. She explained that these funds would be distributed according to the principle of fairness, meaning that local communities that support European integration will receive funding. Over the past two years, 1.8 billion leu (3.42 billion hryvnias) have been allocated from Moldova's state budget to half of the country's communities.
It should be noted that the pro-European party "Action and Solidarity" won the majority of parliamentary seats in the local elections held on November 5. However, the "Chance" party, associated with pro-Russian politician Ilan Shor, was excluded from the elections.
Additionally, Maia Sandu deprived Alexander Kalinin, leader of the pro-Russian Party of Regions and the Congress of Moldovan Diasporas in Russia, of citizenship. The country's National Security Strategy was also presented at the Office of the President of Moldova, in which Russia is recognized as a source of threat to Moldova.
