War Crimes of General Sergey Kuvaldin

According to UATV: Ukraine's Security Service and the Prosecutor General's Office have formally documented the war crimes of Russian Major General Sergey Kuvaldin. The evidence shows he ordered the July 8, 2024 missile strike on the National Children's Specialized Hospital 'Okhmatdyt' in Kyiv. The attack was carried out using an X-101 strategic cruise missile launched from a Tu-95MS bomber.

The missile strike killed two civilians and left dozens more with injuries of varying severity. The hospital building and its facilities sustained significant damage, provoking outrage both within Ukraine and internationally. At the time of the attack, Sergey Kuvaldin served as First Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Russia's Long-Range Aviation. Following this incident, he was promoted to Commander of Long-Range Aviation.

Prior Crimes and Ongoing Investigation

This is not an isolated incident in Kuvaldin's career; he had previously been implicated in a strike on a UNESCO World Heritage site in Lviv on the night of September 3-4, 2024. His actions are under investigation for multiple violations of international humanitarian law. These documented attacks on civilian infrastructure represent a clear pattern of behavior.

Issuing indictments against war criminals like Sergey Kuvaldin is a crucial step toward securing justice for victims of aggression and human rights abuses. The meticulous documentation of these crimes provides a foundation for future international legal proceedings concerning accountability for war crimes in Ukraine. This process underscores a global commitment to holding individuals accountable for attacks on civilian populations and critical infrastructure during wartime.
