Cracking Down on Draft Evasion

According to Novyny.live: Authorities in Ukraine have taken down six separate schemes designed to help men avoid military conscription, with arrests made in the Kyiv and Mykolaiv regions. These operations are part of a broader effort to curb illegal practices that undermine the country's mobilization efforts during wartime.

In Kyiv, law enforcement exposed a man and his live-in partner who were selling fake birth certificates for children born abroad. In Vyshhorod, an official from a state-owned waterway company is suspected of arranging fraudulent 'reservations' to exempt individuals from service. In the Sviatoshyn district of the capital, a lawyer was caught promising to secure a Group II disability status to dodge the draft. In Bila Tserkva, a staff member of a local military enlistment office is accused of guaranteeing transfers of conscripts to rear units.

Police and Security Actions

In Mykolaiv, a female attorney was detained for offering to remove clients from wanted lists using fake disability documents. Meanwhile, in the Kyiv region, operatives uncovered brokers who offered phony reservations or illegal border crossings for $16,000. Those implicated now face up to ten years in prison along with asset forfeiture.

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police remain actively engaged in identifying and shutting down similar operations to uphold mobilization laws and prevent unlawful evasion of military duty.

These enforcement actions come amid an increased need to maintain conscription integrity during the ongoing war. Disrupting draft-dodging networks is critical to sustaining the country's defense capabilities. Authorities continue to target illegal practices that threaten mobilization efforts and pose risks to national security.
