Ukrainian Security Service Strikes Key Russian Military Targets in Crimea.
Crimea Targeted in Major Attack
According to Novyny.live: In a nighttime operation, Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) struck multiple Russian military installations in occupied Crimea, including the Yevpatoria Aircraft Repair Plant and equipment near Dzhankoi. This coordinated assault targeted facilities of strategic importance to Russian forces in the region. The operation underscores Ukraine's increasing capability to project force into the annexed peninsula, a key logistical hub for Russia's war effort.
The attack severely damaged production workshops at the Yevpatoria Aircraft Repair Plant. Among the equipment destroyed were two 'Pantsir-S2' anti-aircraft missile and gun systems and a 'Mohajer-6' drone on an airfield. Additional losses included:
- A ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun mounted on a truck;
- Two fuel tankers;
- A ground control station for the 'Forpost' unmanned aerial vehicle.
The SBU's 'Alpha' Special Operations Center executed the mission. Throughout February 2026, Ukrainian strikes have expanded beyond land targets to include maritime and aviation assets. Previously hit objects include a patrol ship, a sea tugboat, and a Ka-27 helicopter, all part of the Russian military contingent in the area. These actions highlight Ukraine's sustained campaign to degrade Russian military infrastructure in Crimea, which Russia seized and annexed in 2014.
This operation signals a shift in Ukrainian tactics, focusing on applying greater pressure by systematically eroding Russia's ability to maintain its military presence. By targeting strategic assets like repair facilities and air defense systems, Ukraine aims to complicate Russian logistics and reduce its operational capacity in the Black Sea region.
