Baltic Oil Terminal Hit by Drone Attack

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) launched a strike on the Ust-Luga oil terminal in Russia’s Leningrad region during the night of March 29. The attack caused significant damage and ignited a major fire at the facility. Located on the Baltic Sea, the Ust-Luga terminal is a critical component of Russia’s energy infrastructure and has been targeted multiple times in recent operations aimed at disrupting Moscow’s oil network.

Acting SBU Head Yevhenii Khmara stated that these operations are designed to weaken Russia’s economic capacity. Over the past week, Russian oil infrastructure has been hit at least four times. On March 25, Alpha drones struck the same Ust-Luga terminal, and the Kirishi oil refinery in the Leningrad region was also attacked.

Khmara added: 'The SBU, together with the Defense Forces, continues systematic efforts to reduce the enemy’s financial and logistical capabilities.'

These actions highlight the strategic approach of Ukrainian forces in destroying resources that sustain Russia’s military capabilities.

Strikes on Oil Terminals

The attacks on Russian oil terminals reflect an intensification of Ukraine’s economic warfare against the aggressor, specifically targeting critical infrastructure. This could diminish Russia’s ability to supply energy, with substantial consequences for its economy and military potential. Amid the ongoing conflict, such operations may also impact energy security across the region and Europe as a whole.
