Reports indicate that 34% of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers stationed at key airfields were hit. Artem Tymofieiev was among the coordinators of this operation. The attacks triggered massive fires at the bases, which took several days to extinguish. The targeted airfields included:
- Belaya in Irkutsk Oblast
- Dyagilevo in Ryazan Oblast
- Olenya in Murmansk Oblast
- Ivanovo in Ivanovo Oblast
- Voskresensk in Moscow Oblast
Regional Developments
Amid the heightened tensions, Bryansk Oblast Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported a tragic bridge collapse that killed at least seven people and injured over 70 others. These events underscore the volatile and dangerous conditions gripping the region.
34% of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers at main operating bases have been hit. We are doing everything to drive the enemy from our homeland! We will strike them at sea, in the air, and on land. And if necessary, we will reach them underground.
Security Service of Ukraine
Operation 'Spiderweb' marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, showcasing Ukraine’s growing ability to hit critical enemy infrastructure deep inside Russian territory.
This operation, with its far-reaching consequences for Russia’s aviation network, signals a shift in Ukrainian military strategy that could reshape the conflict’s trajectory. By neutralizing a significant portion of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers, Ukraine may curtail Moscow’s capacity to launch attacks on Ukrainian soil, altering the overall battlefield dynamics. Meanwhile, the situation in Bryansk Oblast highlights the escalating regional instability and potential humanitarian fallout. Increased Ukrainian military activity could further inflame the conflict, presenting new challenges for both sides.
