Ukrainian Security Service Captures FSB Operative Attempting to Infiltrate Military Recruitment Center.
FSB Spy Detained in Kharkiv Region
According to Novyny.live: The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has apprehended a woman who was attempting to infiltrate a regional military recruitment center in Kharkiv Oblast on an assignment from Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB). The suspect, a freelance psychologist who traveled from Cherkasy, had rented local accommodation and secured an interview for a psychologist position at the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC). The SBU monitored and documented her activities before she could gain access to the facility. This case highlights the ongoing intelligence war within Ukraine as it defends against Russian aggression.
Investigations revealed her prior involvement in assisting Russian airstrikes on energy infrastructure in Cherkasy Oblast and in carrying out FSB tasks in Kramatorsk. During searches, authorities seized her smartphone, which contained evidence of communication with the FSB, along with ammunition for firearms.
Severity of the Offense
The woman has been formally notified of suspicion of state treason under martial law, an offense that carries a potential sentence of life imprisonment. The case is under further investigation by relevant authorities due to its grave nature.
This incident underscores the persistent threat of espionage and betrayal amid Russia's military aggression, a critical security concern for Ukraine. The arrest and the suspect's ties to the FSB indicate continued attempts by hostile forces to penetrate Ukrainian state institutions. It also demonstrates the proactive efforts of Ukrainian law enforcement in countering threats to national security, a vital component in maintaining stability during wartime.
