Scandal at the Stone Throwing Championship: Participants Disqualified for Fraud.
Scandal at the World Stone Throwing Championship
According to The Sun: During the World Stone Throwing Championship, which took place in 2025, several participants were disqualified due to a scandal.
This year's event was held on the Isle of Isdale, which is home to only 61 people on the west coast of Scotland.

Participants must adhere to strict requirements: to compete, the stones must be made from 'natural island slate' and can be no more than three inches in diameter.
During one of the broadcasts on BBC Radio, the event organizer, Dr. Kyle Matthews, stated that there had been instances of fraud.
“Several stones were tampered with,” he said. “They were perfectly round and met our three-inch standard. Since it is a piece of metal, I don't think we can insist too much on that.”
He added that “the problem was that we didn’t pay attention to the stones being suspiciously round.”
The organizer promised that 'next year we will conduct an even more exciting event.'
This year, Jonathan Jennings won, managing to push three of his stones an impressive 177 meters, becoming the first American to win this championship.
The first championship took place in 1983 and was revived by locals after 14 years as a regular event.
In 2024, the World Stone Throwing Championship raised about £15,000 for local charities and nonprofit projects.

In addition to the sport, organizers emphasize the importance of supporting local initiatives with the funds raised and highlight the championship's crucial role in community development.Read also
