Another community in Zhytomyr region parted ways with the Moscow church.

The religious community of the village of Barashi in the Zhytomyr region decided to break away from the Moscow Patriarchate and join the Zhytomyr-Ovruch diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The documents on admission to the diocese were officially issued. This news was reported by Bishop Paisiy on his Facebook page.

Led by Archpriest Mykola Tsap, representatives of the Holy Protection Church in the village of Barashi visited the Eparchial Administration of the Zhytomyr-Ovruch Diocese, where they were issued certificates and relevant decrees.

Earlier, the religious community of the village of Barashi held a general meeting, at which they unanimously decided to break away from the Moscow Patriarchate and accept the Tomos of autocephaly. These events have already become a trend in the rural community.

Bishop Paisiy congratulated the parishioners and the rector on this important decision and issued his own decrees and certificates of their acceptance into the diocese.

Other examples

This is becoming an increasingly common phenomenon in Ukraine, where religious communities decide to break away from the Moscow Patriarchate and join the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Recently, the Holy Assumption Cathedral in the city of Zolotonosha and the Holy Nicholas Parish in the village of Shestovytsia also made similar decisions.

It is worth noting that the Verkhovna Rada passed a law banning the activities of religious organizations whose governing center is located in a state-aggressor against Ukraine. This means that the Moscow Church, which operates in Ukraine as the UOC MP, also falls under this law.
