Serbia will continue to receive gas from Azerbaijan.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić stated that gas supplies from Azerbaijan to the country will not be interrupted. He announced this on the social network X.
Vučić thanked Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev for this decision, which, according to him, was made despite the 'objective problems'.
Our brothers and friends from Azerbaijan just informed me that, despite the objective problems caused by force majeure circumstances, the gas supply for Serbia will not be interrupted- said Vučić.
He also added that he expects the visit of Ilham Aliyev to Belgrade in the near future.
Interruption of gas supplies from Azerbaijan
On January 11, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić announced the interruption of gas supplies from Azerbaijan. According to the Serbian president, Azerbaijan referred to 'force majeure circumstances'. He did not specify what problems arose.
Serbia received 1.7 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas daily.
As noted by the Serbian president, 'bad news never comes alone', referring to the US sanctions against the 'Oil Industry of Serbia' (NIS), the majority shareholder of which is 'Gazprom Neft'.
Recall that on January 10, the US imposed sanctions against more than 30 Russian oil service companies. The restrictions also affected the 'Oil Industry of Serbia' (NIS), which is 56.15% owned by Russian companies 'Gazprom Neft' and 'Gazprom'.
Demand from Russians
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić reported that the Russians have 45 days to dispose of their assets in NIS.
