The 39-year-old Williams revealed that she lost 31 pounds in a year using a popular weight loss drug.
Transformation and decision
Her results are impressive: the tennis legend posed in a satin jumpsuit. “Dressed to the nines… and on cloud nine. In satin swimwear of course,” she wrote on Instagram.
In an interview with Vogue, Serena shared that she takes the drug Zepbound, a GLP-1 medication. This came after she tried to lose weight through diet and exercise after the birth of her second child in 2023.
“My whole life has been about hitting the gym, working out, running, doing HIIT workouts, dancing, everything you can imagine,” Williams noted.
“I always reached a certain level on the scale, but couldn't break through that barrier.
“That’s when I decided to try something new and started using GLP-1 from Ro.”
New methods and support
After retiring from tennis in 2022, Williams mentioned that she lost weight quickly, but later it became a problem again.
Serena reached out to the medical company Ro, which now supports her program, for more information about the GLP-1 drug.
“I could never reach the weight I needed to, no matter what I did, how much I worked out,” she shared in an interview.
“It was crazy, as I had never been in a situation in my life where I worked so hard, ate healthy, and still couldn't achieve the desired result.”
Serena emphasized that the new drug only complemented and strengthened her existing health regimen.
According to her, the drug helped her feel more active and reduced joint pain.
