Sheffield Wednesday coach resigns amid financial crisis at the club.
Sheffield Wednesday team leader leaves the club
According to The Sun: The head coach of Sheffield Wednesday, Andy Parslow, has left his position at the club, which is going through difficult times.
The Championship team is currently facing numerous issues related to the club's management in 2025.
GettyControversial owner Deifon Chansir has again failed to pay staff salaries on time in September, marking the fifth time in the last seven months.
Parslow joined the team in September 2024, initially working under former coach Danny Rowe as a set-piece specialist.
Later, he continued his work under new mentor Henrik Petersen, but has now left Hillsborough.
In confirming his decision on LinkedIn, Parslow wrote:
“Yesterday I made the difficult decision to terminate my contract with Sheffield Wednesday FC and will now be looking for new work.”
“In the challenging circumstances we faced, I tried to do my best for the club, but my family will always be my priority, and I made this decision considering their interests.”
“It has been a great honor for us to call Sheffield our home for a year. My son was born here, and my daughter knows all the words to the song Hi Ho Sheffield Wednesday, which has become an anthem in our home.”
“I want to thank Danny Rowe, who invited me to the club last September, as well as for his support throughout that season.”
“I also want to thank Henrik Petersen for his unwavering support and strength since his appointment.”Getty
“I also want to thank all the players for their incredible efforts during my time at the club and for how they conducted themselves throughout this time.”
“To all club staff, who are a wonderful group of people, I wish only the best for the future. Special thanks to Ben King, with whom I worked in our department.”
“Finally, to the fans. An incredible group of people who supported us at home and provided the best away fan club I have ever seen – thank you for your support and love for this wonderful football club.”
“I leave the club with a heavy heart and will always follow the Bears' results in the future.”
Sheffield Wednesday fans have already protested against Chansir's ownership.
Under Petersen's leadership, the team has registered only one win, three draws, and five losses in the first nine matches of this season's Championship.
Currently, the team sits in 23rd place in the standings, edging out only their Sheffield neighbors – United.
Despite the difficulties, Petersen has managed to bolster his coaching staff. Recently, Pete Shattleworth and Darryl Flavaven, who previously worked with another coach in Plymouth, joined the team, as well as former Manchester City academy coach Craig Madd.
Thus, the situation at Sheffield Wednesday remains tense, but with new appointments in the coaching staff, the team hopes to improve its results. Parslow's resignation indicates a crisis at the club that needs to be overcome to return to the path of success.Read also
