15 Bridges Destroyed by Ukrainian Forces in June: A Major Blow to Russian Military Logistics.
Bridge Destruction Campaign – June 2023
According to UATV: During June 2023, Ukraine’s defense forces destroyed 15 bridges in temporarily occupied territories, severely disrupting Russian troop supply lines. This strategic move was aimed at cutting off the southern logistics network of the Russian army, according to Kyrylo Budanov.
Breakdown of Destroyed Bridges
Of the 15 bridges taken out, 8 were railway crossings and 7 were road bridges. In Crimea and the Zaporizhzhia region, four bridges were destroyed in each area, significantly hindering the movement of military equipment and supplies. The Kherson region saw three bridges eliminated, while Donetsk and Luhansk each lost two.
Notable bridge losses in Crimea include structures in:
- Rozdolne,
- Voinka,
- Vladyslavivka,
- Ichky.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, bridges were destroyed at:
- Petershagen,
- Vasylivka,
- the Korsak River crossing,
- Azovske.
The Kherson region lost bridges in:
- Stavky,
- the Henichesk Strait,
- Chonhar.
In Donetsk, bridges were hit in:
- Hranytne,
- Novoazovsk.
In Luhansk, bridges over the following rivers were destroyed:
- Aidar,
- Luhachyk.
These actions by Ukraine’s Armed Forces reflect a systematic effort to complicate enemy logistics.
Targeting bridges in occupied areas is part of a broader Ukrainian strategy to weaken Russian forces and gain control over key supply routes. This approach increases the time and cost required for moving military hardware, ultimately reducing the effectiveness of Russian operations in the region. Such measures highlight Ukraine’s proactive stance in adapting to modern battlefield conditions.
