Kirill Alexeyevich Budanov - Ukrainian intelligence officer, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General.

Place of Birth. Education. Born on January 4, 1986 in Kyiv. In 2007, he graduated from the Odessa Institute of Ground Forces.

Career. After graduating from the institute, he served in the special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, where he held various positions.

Since spring 2014, he participated in the fighting in Eastern Ukraine. He suffered several injuries, one of them severe.

From August 6 to 8, 2016, he conducted a special operation in the city of Armyansk in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.

From 2018 to 2020, he served in a special service.

In 2020, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Intelligence of Ukraine.

On August 5, 2020, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Kirill Budanov as head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. In this position, Budanov replaced Vasyl Burba.

Military Ranks. On August 24, 2021, he was awarded the military rank of Brigadier General.

On April 3, 2022, he was awarded the military rank of Major General.

On September 7, 2023, he was awarded the military rank of Lieutenant General.

Assassination Attempt. On April 4, 2019, an assassination attempt was made on Kirill Budanov in Kyiv. A Chevrolet Evanda was blown up on Academician Williams Street, under which a mine was placed, but it detonated prematurely. A Russian saboteur and a group that was to blow up the Ukrainian intelligence officer were arrested.

Scandals. In December 2021, Bihus.Info and Investigation.Info reported that Kirill Budanov lived with Alexander Gogilasvili in a house owned by Diana Strelkovskaya, the wife of Vyacheslav Strelkovsky, who the media describes as the organizer of conversion centers.
