Sir Jim Ratcliffe held urgent talks with Amorim after Manchester United's disastrous start

According to The Sun: Manchester United's chief executive, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, flew to Manchester to meet Ruben Amorim after the team's disappointing start to the season.

The pressure on Amorim is increasing: his team has only won one of their first five games of the season.

According to The Athletic, Ratcliffe arrived at Carrington training ground by helicopter to hold a series of meetings, including with Amorim.

This meeting was scheduled before the team's disappointing results, but it has become extremely relevant due to the current situation.

In five matches this season, Manchester United suffered an embarrassing defeat against League Two team Grimsby, experienced a heavy loss to their local rivals, and managed to win against bottom team Burnley thanks to a penalty in the 97th minute.

Statistically, Amorim's results have been the worst among all Manchester United coaches in the past 80 YEARS in terms of win percentage.

Since he took charge of the club, Amorim has only managed to win 36.2% of matches.

Comparison with predecessors

In comparison, Erik ten Hag, whom Amorim replaced, had a 54.7% win rate during his career at United, while David Moyes, whose departure occurred in his first season, achieved a 52.9% win rate.

However, Amorim's problems are not limited to comparisons with predecessors; fans are significantly more concerned about his results compared to competitors.

Since his arrival in Manchester last November, United has had the worst record among all remaining Premier League teams in the division.

Among the 17 permanent Premier League clubs, excluding those promoted or relegated, his club is in LAST place in the table.

It is worth noting that they have only earned 31 points from 31 games, including just eight wins.

Ongoing issues

The situation has not improved this season, as Manchester United has only garnered four points in their first four Premier League matches – the worst start since the 1992-93 season.

Despite this, Amorim insists on his tactics, claiming he can only be fired if the 3-4-3 format changes.

“This is not the record we should have at Manchester United. I accept it, but I'm not going to change anything,' said Amorim after the 0-3 loss to Manchester City.
“When I want to change my philosophy, I will; but if not, you must change the coach,' he added.
“We will talk about this after every loss. I play how I want, and I will play this way until I want to change.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe currently supports Amorim, stating in March that “that’s why he really likes him.”

“Yes, I like him. He is a very thoughtful guy. Every time I come to the training ground, I talk to Ruben,” he said.
“I sit down with him over a cup of coffee, tell him where everything is going wrong, and he replies to me that I should mind my own business. I like that.

The situation surrounding Manchester United has become tense due to the team’s poor results under Ruben Amorim. To change the course of events, he may need not only the support of management but also an active response to the team’s decline in form. Time will tell whether he can rectify the situation and bring the team back on track. Fans hope for improvement, as the club's history demands ambitious results.
