Half-Year Review: Russia Failed Every Objective, Losing 32,000 Troops Monthly, Says Ukraine’s Top Commander.
Reports from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
According to UATV: On July 10, 2026, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, released a comprehensive assessment of the first six months of the year. He stated that the Russian army had not achieved a single one of its strategic goals, despite holding a numerical advantage of nearly two to one. According to Syrskyi, the pace of Russian advances has slowed considerably, with enemy forces now conducting active operations on only six to seven key axes at any given time.
Syrskyi also highlighted the monthly toll on Russian forces, which now averages around 32,000 personnel killed or wounded. He emphasized that Ukrainian troops are continuing a defensive campaign while simultaneously carrying out stabilization efforts.
“We are steadily implementing a strategy to exhaust the Russian aggressor,” said Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Frontline Situation
Despite these positive indicators on the battlefield, Syrskyi cautioned that a decisive turning point in the war remains distant. The aggressor has not abandoned its plans to fully occupy the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. This underscores the need for Ukrainian forces to maintain their resolve and operational tempo in the face of ongoing aggression. The frontline remains tense, and Ukraine’s military is preparing for further challenges ahead.
In light of recent developments, the results released by Syrskyi point to measurable successes in checking Russian advances, even as the threat from the enemy persists. The slowdown in Russian troop movements and their heavy casualties may signal a depletion of the aggressor’s resources. However, Moscow’s strategic objectives remain unchanged, requiring Ukraine to stay vigilant and ready to defend. This situation also reinforces the critical importance of continued international support and cooperation in countering aggression.
