Syrskyi Chairs Reserve Review: Bolstering Northern Defenses and Expanding Drone Units.
Army Reserve Readiness Meeting
According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, recently led a high-level session focused on assessing the status and preparedness of military reserves. A key priority emerging from the talks was strengthening the nation’s northern border defenses, a critical move given the current security landscape.
The discussion also covered the establishment of new unmanned systems units, designed to improve frontline coverage. Syrskyi emphasized that
“these units will be equipped with the necessary weapons, equipment, and other resources to carry out their assigned missions”. Ensuring these forces have everything they need remains a top concern.
Territorial Defense Brigade Assessment
In addition, the meeting reviewed the condition of Territorial Defense brigades. On May 21, it was reported that Ukraine’s Security Service and Defense Forces were conducting enhanced security operations across five northern regions. Syrskyi highlighted the importance of the non-commissioned officer corps, stating,
“sergeants are the backbone of unit combat effectiveness and a crucial link between commanders and soldiers”. He added that new initiatives
“will significantly boost units’ capabilities in reconnaissance, striking the enemy, and defending assigned areas of responsibility”.
This latest meeting under Syrskyi’s leadership underscores the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ active efforts to shore up national defense in response to evolving threats. Enhancing northern border security and rolling out new drone units represent key steps toward improving the frontline situation and safeguarding the state. The focus on fresh initiatives and the NCO corps signals a clear drive to raise the efficiency and combat readiness of military formations.
