To enter Poland from Ukraine, you must use only official border crossing points. When you cross the border, you also cross the borders of the European Union and the Schengen Area.

What Do Customs Check for Ukrainians at the Border with Poland

If you are going to Poland without a visa, border guards will check your passport to see if you have stayed more than 90 days within 180 days in the Schengen area.

You may also be required to have medical insurance for emergencies worth at least 30,000 euros. This requirement applies even to those applying for a work visa.

Border guards may also check if you have funds for living and returning home. The minimum amounts are:

  • 300 zlotys (3,395 UAH) — for a trip up to 4 days;
  • 75 zlotys (approximately 850 UAH) for each day over 4 days.

Separate amounts are considered for the return:

  • 200 zlotys (2,263 UAH) — for travelers from neighboring countries;
  • 500 zlotys (5,659 UAH) — for EU citizens;
  • 2,500 zlotys (28,297 UAH) — for persons from other countries.

If you have a return ticket, these requirements may be waived. This also does not apply to those who have a work visa or other types of permits.

Students, researchers, and participants in educational programs have their own requirements.

Do not forget that violating the rules when crossing the border may result in fines. For example, in Poland, photographing objects may incur a significant fine.

It is also important to remember that Ukrainians may face problems at the border if they do not comply with the rules regarding documents and finances.

Ukrainians traveling to Poland must know all the requirements and rules for crossing the border to avoid unpleasant situations and fines.
