Shmyhal explained how the army will be reduced after the war: details of the plan.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal stated during the government's plan presentation on August 18 that there will be no sudden reduction of the army after the war. The Armed Forces are the main guarantee of security for the country, so any reduction in military will occur gradually.
Plans for army reforms
Shmyhal emphasized that it is important to have well-equipped and professional Armed Forces. Ukraine is also cooperating with partners to discuss the future size of its army, which could range from 800 thousand to 1 million military personnel.

Additionally, the minister spoke about a new Ukrainian missile 'Flamingo', which is powerful and has a long range. Decisions have also been made to simplify processes within the military, including the procurement of vehicles for the Armed Forces.
It has been noted that the reduction of the army will be carried out gradually, taking into account the needs for maintaining the country's security and cooperation with international partners.
