Colin Jost's Humor on Ryder Cup

According to The Sun: Colin Jost made a provocative joke, mocking Donald Trump and the late Arnold Palmer during the Ryder Cup broadcast on Sunday.

The USA team had a rough first two days, and as of Sunday, they trailed Europe 11.5 to 4.5.

Not shying away from the team's struggles, Jost opened his broadcast with a joke about the USA's poor performance.

“Well, there’s nothing to hide here, folks. The Ryder Cup has been tough for American fans.”

“Like hairstyles at a Long Island prom, it’s been a giant flop.”

Jost continued: “America’s team is in big trouble today. The chances of a USA win are longer than Arnold Palmer’s penis.”

“This is just what I heard from the President of the United States.”

This joke referenced Trump’s previous comments about Palmer's virility.

In the 2022 book “Confidence Man,” author Maggie Haberman noted that Trump bragged during a 2020 rally that he had seen Palmer, who died in 2016, naked.

Trump also mentioned Palmer again during a speech in his hometown of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, in October 2024.

“This guy was a real man.”

“This man was strong and tough, and... when he was showering with other professionals, they came out of there – saying: ‘Oh my God. This is unbelievable.’”

Trump faced criticism for this remark.

Palmer's daughter, Peg, called Trump's words “disrespectful and inappropriate.”

Trump attended the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black with his golf-enthusiast granddaughter Kai.

The President's presence significantly heightened security at the event.

Trump was probably disappointed with the USA team's performance.

“The atmosphere here has certainly changed. It has changed every day as the fortunes of the USA have changed.”

“On Friday, I would say the mood was electric, on Saturday it was nervous, and today it’s more like: ‘Hey, want to see a dead body?'”

Overall, Colin Jost's participation in the Ryder Cup broadcast not only provided a reason for jokes but also drew attention to the challenging moments faced by the USA team. His comments highlighted the emotions of the fans and the overall tension prevailing at the tournament, which again raised questions about the influence of politics and media on sports events.
