The son of the legendary jockey has a chance to win £60,000

According to The Sun: The son of the distinguished jockey who gained fame at the Grand National could secure his uncle a £60,000 payout due to bets made when he was just two months old.

Timmy Murphy gained popularity at the Cheltenham Festival, winning eight times, and in 2008 became the champion with the legendary horse Our Vic.

Lucas won the Shetland Pony Grand National in 2018 in the same colors as his father at Aintree – and could bring his uncle £50,000 if he wins in the real competition thanks to bets made when he was just two months old.

Last month he surprised bookmakers when at Aintree he won on the financially supported Comply Or Die, causing a loss of £7 million.

William Hill traders were 'on their knees' when trainer David Pipe led his horse to victory, putting their financial positions at risk.

This event marked a new stage for the jockey, who served 84 days in prison in 2002 for misconduct with a stewardess during a flight.

Lucas begins his career

Timmy now watches most major races from home, but that may change since his son Lucas, who is 16 years old, has officially started his career as a jockey.

Lucas has already trained under successful trainer Richard Hannon, and this season he has participated in three competitions.

After a few weeks spent with the trainer at National Hunt, Lucas decided to choose this path. His father believes that his son is 'crazy' to want to become a jumper, especially with jockeys like Harry Cobden and Harry Skelton around.

Uncle Dominic, the brother of Timmy's ex-wife, was delighted with this news. He placed two £100 bets at William Hill: one on Lucas winning the Grand National at odds of 500-1, and another on winning at the Cheltenham Festival at odds of 100-1. Both bets were made when Lucas was very small, and if they win, they will bring in significant money – a total of £60,000.

Timmy said about his son's abilities: 'He is crazy for wanting to go into jumping, I tried to encourage him to go flat, but he seems more suited for jumps.'

This story demonstrates how family traditions and successes can influence the youth. Following in his father's footsteps, Lucas is trying to make a name for himself in the world of racing. Winning or losing in competitions could significantly impact his career, as well as confirm his uncle's bet, which could bring in substantial money. In the future, Lucas has the opportunity to become the next big name in the equestrian sport.
