Key Peace Talks for Ukraine: What Will Be Discussed in Paris.
According to ТСН: Today, Ukraine's allies will meet in Paris for important peace negotiations. However, their progress remains uncertain, as the U.S. government is focusing more on the situation in Venezuela.
These talks could significantly affect Ukraine's security in the context of a potential ceasefire with Russia. French President Emmanuel Macron, even before the start of the American operation in Venezuela, expressed optimism about the recent meeting of the 'Coalition of the Willing.' In his address on December 31, he noted that the allies would 'commit to concrete obligations' to protect Ukraine and ensure a just and lasting peace.
The Élysée Palace confirmed that 35 high-ranking officials, including 27 heads of state and government, would participate in today's meeting. The United States will be represented by the President's envoys — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Secretary of State Marco Rubio changed his plans due to events in Venezuela.
Furthermore, the start of the American operation against Nicolás Maduro may influence the negotiations regarding Ukraine. Participants in the meeting aim to achieve concrete results in five key areas: monitoring the ceasefire, supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deploying foreign forces, commitments in case of new aggression from Russia, and long-term defense cooperation.
'But whether this is still possible on Tuesday is unclear, as Trump is dealing with the consequences of his decision to change the leadership in Venezuela,' the publication notes.
It is also known that Volodymyr Zelensky and representatives of the 'Coalition of the Willing' will meet in Paris, where the President of Ukraine will have a working lunch with the American delegation and participate in a 'Coalition' meeting. European officials hope that these discussions will help align the positions of the U.S., Ukraine, and other European countries.
Financial publications emphasize that the overthrow of Maduro could create a complex situation for Ukraine, as events in Venezuela could lead to a global redistribution of spheres of influence. There is a likelihood that Donald Trump may make a decision regarding a major deal with Russia and China, which could affect Ukraine's position.
Against the backdrop of these events, it is important to observe how the negotiations in Paris will influence the security architecture in the region. Interaction between Western allies and Ukraine could determine strategies for the near future amid global challenges.
