Operation by the 'Artan' Special Forces

According to Novyny.live: Without suffering any casualties, the 'Artan' special forces unit of Ukraine's Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) successfully neutralized Russian reconnaissance paratroopers in the settlement of Stepnohirsk, located in the Zaporizhzhia region. This operation took place in late May 2026, after Russian occupiers infiltrated Stepnohirsk to film propaganda footage. The Russian military command had deployed its 'VDV' reconnaissance units to storm the village.

The Russian assault occurred at night during a heavy downpour. Ukrainian troops gave the Russians an opportunity to surrender, but the enemy opened fire instead. That act triggered an immediate response from the 'Artan' special forces. By the end of the operation, the area was completely cleared of saboteurs, with no losses reported on the Ukrainian side.

Outcome of the Operation

At the site of the engagement, GUR operatives discovered Russian flags that were intended for use in staged propaganda photos. Viktor Torkotiuk, a representative of the special unit, commented:

“We offered them a chance to surrender, but the enemy chose a different path.” - Viktor Torkotiuk

This mission underscores the effectiveness of Ukrainian forces in countering the aggressor and their readiness to carry out assigned objectives.

The event serves as further evidence of active Ukrainian military operations amid the ongoing confrontation with Russian aggression. The successful 'Artan' special forces operation highlights not only military preparedness but also the ability to respond swiftly to threats. Ukraine's response to Russian provocations could carry strategic weight in the protracted conflict and reinforces the critical need to maintain the country's defense capabilities.
