Drought in Ukraine Destroyed Crops: Which Cultures Were Most Affected.
This July, thermometers nearly burst from the heat, and rain became so rare that rural crops started to wither before our eyes. According to the Hydro-Meteorological Center of the Black and Azov Seas, such weather seriously damaged late crops. Some plants simply wilted, and farmers even had to cut down part of their plantings.
Who Was Most Affected by the Hot Summer
Agricultural meteorologists noted that sunflowers and corn barely managed to survive in July, but some crops did perish due to insufficient moisture. The effects of the drought were particularly felt by potato, beet, carrot, and cabbage growers. In some areas, the soil dried out to such an extent that root vegetables had no chance for normal growth.
It is worth noting that precisely because of the weather conditions, less harvest was collected in the Odessa region than expected, and a large number of fruits were damaged due to unexpected frosts. Farmers will have to work hard to correct the consequences of this unfavorable summer.
