Disruptions to Electricity and Water Supply in Odesa

According to Novyny.live: On July 3, 2023, some residents of Odesa faced interruptions in both electricity and water services. These outages were triggered by emergency shutdowns resulting from record-breaking temperatures and excessive strain on the grid. Utility crews implemented urgent measures to stabilize the system, but the actions caused temporary inconvenience for locals.

Repair teams from the company 'Infoxvodokanal' are now working to fix damaged equipment. As a result, water supply will be suspended until 9:30 PM in parts of the Peresyp district. Residents left without water should note the following addresses:

  • Yaroslava Baisa Street (1, 1-A, 3, 5, 5/1, 7, 9, 11, 11-A)
  • Semen Paliy Street (21, 109, 109/1, 109/2, 109/3, 109-A, 113-D, 119, 121)

Electricity and Water Tariffs

Additionally, in July 2023, the electricity tariff for households stands at 4.32 hryvnias per kWh. During the same period, the centralized water supply tariff is set at 14.93 hryvnias per cubic meter excluding VAT. Consequently, the total cost for water and sewerage services in Odesa amounts to roughly 35.16 hryvnias per cubic meter.

This situation highlights the critical need for resilient infrastructure amid extreme weather events. The intense heatwave that caused the electricity and water disruptions poses a serious challenge for local utilities, requiring them to respond swiftly. Residents are advised to monitor updates from energy providers and the water utility to stay informed about service restoration and any further outages.
