American company Axiom Space has published a new video on YouTube that demonstrates the production of the main structures of the first Hub 1 module of the future Axiom station. The launch of the module to the International Space Station is scheduled for 2026.
According to Axiom Space, the Hub 1 module has already been built at the Thales Alenia Space plant in Italy.
Europe's largest satellite manufacturer Thales Alenia Space announced the signing of a contract with Axiom Space to develop two key elements for the first commercial station. The launch of the new modules and their connection to the International Space Station are scheduled for two years from now. The contract is worth 110 million euros.
After the completion of the International Space Station, the Axiom modules will become an independent commercial space station. They will be in free flight and will form the basis for a future autonomous American-European orbital station.
