Drivers in Ukraine are increasingly facing the risk of fines for speeding or other traffic violations. However, as experts note, problems can arise even when following the rules if certain items are improperly transported in the trunk.
What can result in a fine:
- Fuel. Transporting more than 60 liters of gasoline or diesel fuel in canisters can lead to a fine of 510 hryvnias. This applies not only to carriers but also to those returning from summer cottages.
- Hunting trophies. Having wild game meat in the car without the necessary documents can cost the driver up to 80 thousand hryvnias. The police work closely with hunting inspectors, so the absence of confirmation usually leads to fines.
- Wood. Even a few bags of firewood without documents are considered a violation. The minimum fine reaches 1,530 hryvnias, and in the case of significant damage – up to 51 thousand hryvnias. This applies to both trucks and passenger cars with trailers.
How to avoid problems
Lawyers and road safety specialists advise drivers to always check the contents of the trunk. Receipts or official notes can help avoid fines and lengthy disputes.
Experts also recommend:
- storing fuel only in factory canisters and in allowed volumes;
- preparing documents for firewood or meat in advance if the transport is for agricultural or hunting purposes;
- remembering that the police may involve specialists from the forestry and hunting inspection to check the legality of transporting goods.
It is worth noting that even a regular trip outside the city can end with large fines if the transport rules are not followed.
Thus, Ukrainian drivers can face significant fines for transporting fuel, wood, or hunting trophies without the necessary documents. Experts strongly recommend checking the contents of car trunks and following transport rules to avoid unpleasant situations on the road.
This information is particularly important for those planning trips outside the city, as misunderstandings with law enforcement can lead to significant financial expenses. Knowing your rights and obligations will help drivers avoid problems and enjoy their journey.
