Subaru’s First Hybrid Wilderness SUV Makes Its Debut
According to Novyny.live: Subaru has officially unveiled plans for its first-ever hybrid Wilderness SUV, which will be introduced at the New York Auto Show on April 1, 2026. Built on the popular Forester crossover platform, this new model continues Subaru’s tradition of blending eco-friendly engineering with serious off-road capability.
Powertrain and Performance
The hybrid system in this new vehicle combines a 2.5-liter engine, a lithium-ion battery, and two electric motors, delivering a total output of 197 horsepower. This setup achieves an average fuel consumption of roughly 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers—a strong figure for a hybrid. On highways, fuel use is estimated at around 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers.
Beyond fuel efficiency, the Subaru Wilderness maintains a rugged off-road identity. It features a raised ground clearance of 236 millimeters, allowing it to confidently tackle various obstacles. Additional highlights include:
- A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster;
- An 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen;
- 17-inch black alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tires.
With this launch, Subaru aims to attract buyers who value both sustainability and off-road performance. The growing push among automakers to introduce green technologies in the SUV segment aligns with evolving consumer expectations and stricter environmental regulations. The official debut at the New York Auto Show will give potential customers a closer look at the vehicle’s full capabilities and its competitive positioning in the market.
