The court released Shufrych on bail: who and how will pay 33 million.
According to ТСН: The Kyiv Appeal Court has made a decision to release MP Nestor Shufrych on bail of 33 million 280 thousand hryvnias.
Shufrych's lawyer Viktor Karpenko reported that the MP cannot cover this amount himself, as he is under sanctions. Furthermore, no other individual can pay bail for him, as this might lead to sanctions for them as well. According to the lawyer, financial monitoring will also complicate the transfer of funds in favor of Shufrych, making the situation with the bail payment more difficult.
Shufrych's son, Oleksandr Shufrych, expressed hope that his party members would show political solidarity and be able to pay bail for their colleague, who has already spent two and a half years in pre-trial detention.
It should be noted that Nestor Shufrych is accused of treason, collaborating with an FSB intelligence network, and engaging in subversive activities in the field of information. He has been in custody in pre-trial detention since September 2023.
Despite the ongoing investigations and court proceedings, Shufrych has not formally lost his mandate and remains a member of the parliament of Ukraine.
The situation surrounding Nestor Shufrych remains tense. His future fate depends not only on his personal life but also on the political configuration in parliament. Whether there will be people willing to help with the bail, and what consequences these events will have for his political career remains an open question.
