Vegetable prices in Kyiv: market vs. supermarkets
Vegetable prices in Kyiv always attract consumer interest, especially when it comes to comparing costs at markets and supermarkets.
The "Khvylya" portal conducted an analysis of prices for popular vegetables at the "Stolychnyi" market and in leading supermarket chains. The results of this study revealed interesting trends and differences that can be helpful for shoppers when planning their purchases.
At Kyiv's "Stolychnyi" market and in supermarkets, there are noticeable differences in the prices of some vegetables.
Pumpkin at the market costs from 9 to 11 hryvnias per kilogram. In supermarkets, pumpkin prices are higher – from 11.60 to 19.90 UAH/kg depending on the variety.
Ukrainian potatoes at the market are offered at a price of 18-22 UAH/kg. In stores, the cost of potatoes is somewhat higher – from 24.80 to 28.20 UAH per kilogram.
Onions at the "Stolychnyi" market are sold from 12-16 UAH/kg. In supermarkets, onion prices range from 12.90 to 29.90 UAH/kg depending on the variety and quality.
Overall, prices at the market are somewhat lower than in the retail networks. However, supermarkets offer a wider range of vegetables of different varieties and categories.
It should be noted that supermarkets updated their prices for cabbage, carrots, and garlic in October.
