Moldova extended protection for Ukrainian refugees: until when.
According to ТСН: Moldova has decided to prolong the temporary protection mechanism for Ukrainians who were forced to leave their country until March 4, 2027. The country has joined the relevant decision of the European Union.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova has reported that it will continue to ensure safe and comfortable conditions for Ukrainian refugees. The agency plans to actively cooperate with state institutions, local authorities, and international organizations to implement necessary support measures.
The situation in Ukraine
The European Council emphasized that the reasons that led to the introduction of temporary protection remain relevant: the situation in Ukraine remains unstable and is accompanied by serious risks. They noted that humanitarian conditions continue to be challenging, and most of the refugees currently do not have the possibility to return home.
The situation with Poland
The European Union has decided to temporarily exclude Poland from the new solidarity system regarding the resettlement of migrants. EU interior ministers made this decision, taking into account the significant migration pressure on Poland, particularly due to the prolonged reception of millions of Ukrainian refugees and costs for strengthening the eastern border with Belarus.
These actions by Ukraine and Moldova reflect the continued European support for Ukrainians during the conflict. Despite the difficult circumstances, the countries are striving to provide refugees with proper living conditions and integration. The extension of the temporary protection mechanism in Moldova, as well as the resolution of migration issues in Poland, indicate the irritating war in Ukraine and its impact on neighboring states.
