In 1968, he completed his doctoral studies at the Law School of Syracuse University in New York.

Career. In 1968, Biden participated in the campaign for the Republican gubernatorial candidate of Delaware. However, the Republicans' attempts to win him over to their party failed due to his aversion to Republican President Richard Nixon (1968-1974). Although Biden did not like Nixon, he did not support the anti-Vietnam War movement and avoided being drafted into the army due to asthma.

In 1969, Biden established a private law firm and joined the Democratic Party.

In 1999, he supported NATO's military operation against Yugoslavia.

Biden advocated for military actions in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003. However, he opposed an increase in U.S. military presence in Iraq and argued for the withdrawal of troops from the country. He was one of the main opponents of the U.S. withdrawal from the Soviet-American ABM Treaty of 1972 in 2001 and believed that it would negatively affect relations with Russia.

In 2007, he announced his intentions to run in the U.S. presidential elections, but withdrew his candidacy due to lack of support among Democrats.

In 2008, he joined Barack Obama's team and was elected Vice President of the United States in November 2008. As Vice President, he focused on foreign policy issues. He visited Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan multiple times. He supported the federalization of Iraq.
