Supporting the Recovery of Ukraine: Joint Declaration from the Group of Seven and the European Union

A meeting in the 'Group of Seven' + Ukraine format was held in New York, where more than 30 countries and the European Union adopted a Joint Declaration on support for the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.

According to the President's Office, during the adoption of the Joint Declaration, speeches were given by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Joseph Biden, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

'I am determined to ensure that Ukraine has what it needs to win and fight for its survival. Tomorrow I will announce a series of actions to accelerate support for the Ukrainian military,' said the US President.

Joseph Biden emphasized that this declaration is published to demonstrate support for Ukraine now and in the future.

He also emphasized that partner countries will help Ukraine transition from economic resilience to economic revival. According to Joseph Biden, the country's reconstruction will be funded by revenues from frozen Russian assets.

Volodymyr Zelensky noted that this joint commitment will contribute to the recovery of Ukraine. It provides for the coordination of relevant efforts through the Ukrainian Donor Platform. The President stressed that this support should become tangible this year.

'This reflects our common view on life - we protect people, and we provide people with the opportunity to live. And it is absolutely justified that those who help us stand firm now will be the first - together with Ukraine - to benefit from the large-scale reconstruction,' he emphasized.

The main points of the declaration: comprehensive assistance to Ukraine's recovery on its way to EU membership, coordination of support through the Ukrainian Donor Platform, provision of additional financial support of about $50 billion by the end of the year from the revenues of frozen Russian assets, part of which will be directed to defense needs.

The signatories clearly stated that through collective support for Ukraine's reconstruction and recovery, they will ensure that Russia cannot achieve its goals and will also do everything possible to ensure that after the war, Ukraine has an economy resilient to Russian threats.

The Joint Declaration is open for signing.
