Sofia Romanovna Fedina

Date of Birth: 18.02.1984

Sofia Romanovna Fedina - Ukrainian singer, TV presenter, political scientist, politician. Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the IX convocation from the European Solidarity party.

Place of Birth. Education. She was born on February 18, 1984 in Lviv. From 2000-2005, she studied at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in the Department of International Relations. She graduated with honors as a political scientist and translator.

In July-August 2004, she attended the International Summer University at the University of Vienna.

From 2005-2008, she pursued a doctoral degree at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

From February to December 2008, she completed a scholarship from the Polish government at the Center for Eastern European Studies at the University of Warsaw. She defended her thesis on the topic: “Historical Memory as State Policy: An Example of the Reconciliation Problem between UPA-OUN Veterans and Soviet Veterans.”

On May 21, 2010, she defended her dissertation on the topic “Concepts of Peace in International Relations and Their Implementation” and received the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science.

She speaks English, Polish, Russian, German, Japanese.

Career. From 2002-2005, she was the deputy chairwoman of the regional representation of the International Youth Organization of the European Youth Parliament in Lviv. As a delegate of this organization, she participated in sessions of the United Council of World Youth in Oxford.

From 2001-2005, she was a member of the youth organization “Young Diplomacy.”

Since 2006, she has been a member of the International Association of Young Political Scientists (IAPSS).

From February to October 2010, she was the author and host of the political-analytical program “View from the High Castle” of the regional television of Lviv.

Since 2014, she has been a volunteer in ATO/OOS.

Member of the Presidium of the World Federation of Ukrainian Lemko Associations.

Lecturer at the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Political Activity. She participated in the early parliamentary elections of 2019 as a candidate from the European Solidarity party and took 5th place on the party list. Since August 2019, she has been a member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the IX convocation from the European Solidarity party. In Parliament, she is a member of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy.

Awards. Winner of the Vasyl Stus Prize 2013.

Winner of the Government of Ukraine Prize for special achievements of youth in the development of Ukraine (2017).

Creative Career. She has been artistically active since she was three years old. She graduated from music school No. 6 with a focus on piano. Multiple winner and prize winner of international and Ukrainian competitions and festivals.

Discography. Sofia Fedina represents the Lemko community at concerts and festivals in Ukraine and abroad. She has released two albums of Lemko songs: 2005 - “Idea of the Strange Star” - Kolyadkas and Shchedrivkas, 2007 - “There Under the Mountain... Memorable to My Native Land” - Lemko folk songs.

In 2009, she released the album of protest songs “There Will Be Something to Remember.”

In 2012, she released “Red Rose.”

In 2019, the charitable album “And I Live” was released, dedicated to the defenders of Ukraine. All proceeds from its sale go to the needs of fighters at the front and in the hospital.
