Zelensky Arrives in Saudi Arabia: Security Talks on the Agenda.
Ukrainian President Visits Saudi Arabia for Security Discussions
According to Novyny.live: Volodymyr Zelensky landed in Saudi Arabia on March 26 to hold talks focused on security and bilateral cooperation. During the visit, Ukraine’s leader raised several critical issues, including security guarantees from the United States, which he linked to Ukraine’s potential relinquishment of the Donbas region.
Commenting on the situation, NATO’s Secretary-General stated that
“any decisions regarding territory must be made by Ukraine”— a remark underscoring the importance of Ukraine’s independent choice in matters affecting its territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, media reports have circulated rumors about a possible halt to the PURL program, prompting further questions among analysts. The broadcast featured the following guests:
- Maksym Rozumnyi, Doctor of Political Science,
- Volodymyr Omelchenko, Director of Energy Programs at the Razumkov Center,
- Members of Parliament Vadym Ivchenko from 'Batkivshchyna' and Sofia Fedyna from 'European Solidarity'.
Zelensky also emphasized that
“the United States is ready to formalize security guarantees for Ukraine alongside peace agreements with the Russian side”. These statements point to an active dialogue between Ukraine and its international partners on ensuring the country’s security amid ongoing challenges.
Zelensky’s trip to Saudi Arabia reflects Ukraine’s drive to strengthen international ties and secure security support against the backdrop of heightened tensions with Russia. The remarks about U.S. security guarantees and NATO’s stance on Ukraine’s territorial integrity highlight the importance of international backing in these matters. At the same time, potential changes to cooperation programs like PURL indicate that future security steps will require careful analysis and discussion with all stakeholders involved.
