Arahamiya made a statement regarding the law on NABU and SAP

The 'Servant of the People' party stated that they understand public dissatisfaction with the law on the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) and promise to support a future action plan.

The head of the 'Servant of the People' faction in the Rada, David Arahamiya, reported this in Telegram on Wednesday, July 23.

What was said by 'Servant of the People' regarding the law on NABU and SAP

'We see that there is dissatisfaction, we will respond to it. As soon as a general action plan is presented, we in the Verkhovna Rada are ready to politically support it, provide the necessary resources, and ensure the required decisions' - Arahamiya stated.

Arahamiya debunked myths about Bill No. 12414. According to him, the document never mentioned the liquidation of NABU, SAP, or the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC), and statements about the 'demolition of anti-corruption infrastructure' are unfounded. The bill does not affect the work of these bodies - they continue to operate as usual.

Arahamiya emphasized that during his parliamentary activity, there were no attempts to weaken anti-corruption bodies. On the contrary, decisions have been made to strengthen the anti-corruption infrastructure. NABU was granted the right to independently wiretap suspects (law No. 1009), the independence of NAPC has been increased, and a selection procedure for its head involving international partners was implemented (law No. 1029), as well as the work of the High Anti-Corruption Court was unblocked (law No. 1025).

Moreover, the deputy supported other anti-corruption initiatives, such as lifting parliamentary immunity, restoring penalties for illegal enrichment, and introducing criminal liability for inaccurate data in declarations.

'We are ready to continue supporting everything necessary for the effective functioning of law enforcement agencies and will consider any proposed changes' - the faction leader concluded.

Earlier, Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko explained how NABU and SAP will operate after the adoption of law No. 12414.

Also, MP from the 'European Solidarity' faction Sofia Fedyna expressed a disapproving opinion about law No. 12414, considering it a threat to Ukraine, which may lose visa-free travel and European support.

The Ukrainian 'Servant of the People' party promises to support a future action plan that will meet social needs for corruption control and support of anti-corruption bodies. They remind of already adopted laws to strengthen the country's anti-corruption infrastructure, refusing to make compromises in this area.
