Obligations for Ukrainian Gas Consumers

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian households are required to pay for their gas supply each month, covering both the gas consumed and its delivery. The government has confirmed that gas tariffs will remain unchanged until April 30, 2026. Consumers must adhere to specific payment deadlines: for the gas itself by the 25th of each month, and for its delivery by the 20th.

Natural Gas Tariffs

The tariff for natural gas for domestic consumers is set at 7.96 UAH per cubic meter, including VAT. The cost of gas delivery for the population will also remain unchanged in March. Delivery charges are regulated by Resolution No. 2080 of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKP), which stipulates that the monthly delivery fee is calculated as one-twelfth of the annual ordered capacity.

Naftogaz supplies gas to 98% of consumers in Ukraine. According to law, gas tariffs can only be revised after the conclusion of the full-scale war. Consumers should be aware that if their home is destroyed due to shelling, emergencies, or mechanical disconnection from the grid, they will not be charged for gas delivery. This is a crucial consideration given the current circumstances.

Under Law No. 2479-IX and the Law on Specifics of Regulating Relations in the Natural Gas Market, such circumstances can affect consumers' financial obligations. The primary reasons for which delivery charges may be waived include:

  • Homes destroyed or damaged by shelling
  • Emergency situations caused by hostilities
  • Disconnection of a building from the gas system

Therefore, Ukrainian consumers must be attentive to payment deadlines and consider potential adjustments to delivery costs based on their individual situation.

This price freeze offers a measure of economic predictability for households during a period of immense instability. It is vital for consumers to understand their rights and the procedures for relief in case of emergencies, particularly those related to the ongoing conflict which may impact housing and utility access.
