Water Tariffs in Odesa for April 2026

According to Novyny.live: Residents of Odesa will see no change in their water bills this April, as utility rates remain frozen at pre-war levels. For households, the cost of water supply is set at 14.93 hryvnias per cubic meter (excluding VAT), while wastewater services are priced at 14.37 hryvnias per cubic meter (excluding VAT). Combined, the total expense for water—including both supply and drainage—comes to roughly 35 hryvnias per cubic meter.

On top of that, monthly subscription fees for maintaining water and sewage infrastructure can reach up to 85.88 hryvnias. In contrast, commercial users face significantly higher charges: over 30 hryvnias per cubic meter for water supply (excluding VAT) and about 24 hryvnias per cubic meter for wastewater services. These rates for businesses remain notably steeper than those for private households.

Environmental Concerns

It is worth noting that following a recent missile-and-drone strike by the Russian Federation on the Dniester Hydroelectric Station, technical oils were detected contaminating the Dniester River. The pollution has since spread into Moldova, where authorities have imposed a temporary ban on fishing in affected areas. These incidents highlight growing worries about water quality and ecological safety across the region.

Keeping water tariffs at pre-war levels may offer some relief to Odesa residents grappling with the economic strain of the ongoing conflict.

Still, environmental issues—particularly water contamination—are drawing increased scrutiny, especially after the latest attacks on critical infrastructure. This could compromise local water quality and fuel public anxiety, underscoring the need for decisive government action to safeguard water resources.
