The athletes' wives were photographed on the steps at the black golf course in Bethpage State Park.
They were in identical white outfits and heels.
McIlroy's wife, Erika Stoll, stood in the back row next to Alex Noren's wife, Jennifer Kovach.
Among them, you could also see Rasmus Hojgaard's wife and Tom Fleetwood's wife, Claire.
The opening was postponed due to bad weather: it was originally scheduled for Thursday, but everything was moved up 24 hours.
Team Europe Has Something to Prove
The tournament will begin on Friday morning and conclude on Sunday evening.
Captain Luke Donald addressed the opponents in his opening speech, emphasizing:
“It's not about the prize money or points in the world rankings. It's about pride. It's about representing your flag, your outfit, and the legacy you leave behind.”
“We are driven by something that cannot be bought with money.”
These words took on particular significance as Team Europe does not receive prizes for victory. Instead, Team USA will receive $500,000 (£395,000) each from the PGA of America if they take first place.
Additionally, $300,000 (£237,000) will be donated to charity at the player's choice.
Team Europe has not been able to win on American soil in their last two attempts, with their last victory on U.S. territory occurring in 2012. Nevertheless, as the reigning champions after an impressive 16.5-11.5 win in Rome two years ago, they hope to end this streak of defeats.
