Thanks to the accessibility of Telegram and the digital footprint of users, law enforcement agencies have been able to solve numerous crimes. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.

«Telegram has become a «hunting ground» for both criminals and law enforcement», the publication notes.

With the help of this messenger, many criminal cases have been solved. Various intelligence agencies use Telegram to infiltrate criminal organizations even without cooperation from the platform's administration.

It is noted that over the past five years, U.S. law enforcement agencies have repeatedly brought criminals to justice using their messages in Telegram channels.

According to former federal prosecutor Seth Gertz, criminals used to use various forums on the network that were inaccessible to ordinary users. Today, Telegram users often use one account on dozens of forums, and law enforcement gets their data.

Previously, Telegram updated its moderation policy and allowed users to report illegal content in private groups. This happened after the detention of the messenger's founder Pavel Durov in France. It also became known that Telegram's cooperation with the French authorities led to requests for information from other countries as part of cyber investigations.

By the way, during the interrogation in France, Telegram founder Pavel Durov stated that he officially earns one UAE dirham per year, or $0.27. However, the businessman's personal wealth, according to the publication, is estimated at $9-15.5 billion.
