The Times evaluated Zelensky's decision to attack Kursk region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelensky made the riskiest decision - to invade Russian territory in Kursk region. This was reported by the British publication The Times.
According to the publication, the attack surprised not only Moscow but also Ukraine's western allies, including Washington. At first, it was perceived as a demonstration of strength by anti-Putin militias, but a few days later it became clear that it was a strategic counterstrike planned by Kyiv.
The Times emphasizes that the personal influence of President Zelensky is clearly visible in this operation. Journalists claim that for many months Kyiv maintained the secrecy that the President insisted on launching a summer offensive despite doubts from the military leadership due to resource and personnel issues.
According to The Times, Zelensky wishes to change the narrative that Ukraine is losing the war. From 6000 to 10000 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were involved in this operation.
According to British journalists, the Ukrainian military leadership is ready to risk valuable soldiers and equipment to achieve results in this direction. This decision is considered very risky, but its potential to change the course of the war is impressive.
Earlier, the impact of Western weapons during the attack on Kursk region was evaluated in Germany.
